A BIRTHDAY HAUL & MINI REVIEW.

Sunday, 11 October 2015

Two weeks ago it was my birthday and it was a (very) good one! I had a get together with all my friends and then went out for a meal with my family on the actual day. I really appreciate all of the time and effort my friends and family put in to making my birthday special and I love them all very much. I received some very amazing and thoughtful gifts, most of which were surprises!
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette - My amazing friends put there money together to get me this bad boy and I couldn't be happier with the result! I first used this on my birthday evening and I couldn't believe the pigmentation and colour range. There's an amazing mix of mattes, shimmers and glitters with brights, darks and neutral tones. My favourite shades so far are; Milk Chocolate, Creme Brulee, Salted Caramel and Candied Violet. Oh, and the best part is, it genuinely smells like chocolate!
Rimmel 016 Lipstick - This beautiful lipstick is a warm berry shade which is absolutely perfect for this time of year. The pigmentation is lovely and the formula is creamy as per usual from Rimmel. I can't wait to rock this shade with a big scarf and warm coat!

MAC Mehr Lipstick - I've had my eye on this lippy for a while so it was a lovely surprise to open this on my birthday! It's a matte lipstick which is my preferred finish but the shade is the best part. It's a purple toned nude which is so unusual and something I'm loving.

Real Techniques 201 Brush - Firstly the appearance of this brush is just gorgeous, it's so sleek and stylish and looks great in my brush pot. I've been loving using this in my crease for a simple eye look and I've discovered that it's absolutely perfect for under the eye in the outer corner. Love it!

MAC 217 Brush - I've been wanting this brush for so long and I'm so happy I finally own it - thanks Sis! The first time I used it I couldn't quite believe how good it is even though I know it's a cult beauty product. It's brilliant at packing on the eyeshadow and blending it out again. Although it's pricey I'd 100% recommend it!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara - This mascara has quickly become my favourite. It brings volume, length and all things amazing when it comes to lashes. The packaging is gorgeous but the name leaves something to be desired...

Sali Hughes Pretty Honest - Since this book came out I've wanted to pick it up so when my Grandma said she wanted to buy it for me I was over the moon! I've only just started reading it but what I've read so far is so well written and very informative. I can't wait to continue reading.

Berlin Street Style, A Guide To Urban Chic - At the start of the year I picked up the Paris Street Style book which I've loved reading so I know I will love this version as well. It's the type of book which can be picked up and put down at any point. I love street style for fashion inspiration so this book is perfect.

This birthday has been so great and I feel very lucky to have such amazing friends and family. I love sharing the new things I've been loving and I hope you liked reading about them.

What've you been loving recently?

Love, Mais.

A WARDROBE STAPLE #4.

A waistcoat is something I've never owned before, however I am over the moon that I do now. I bought it knowing I would get so much wear out of it because it's black (of course) and dresses up or just enhances any kind of outfit. It's so versatile - I love how it looks with casual outfits such as the one in the photo and I can also imagine it would look equally as amazing paired with something a little bit more formal. The wrap belt cinches in the waist and adds a relaxed edge to this formal piece.

My favourite way that I've styled this waistcoat so far is with my ripped Mom jeans. Because the jeans are so casual and the waistcoat is so smart, it creates a real contrast which I'm in love with! The white polo neck, which I'm also sporting in the photo, looks amazing with it as the high neck line pokes out of the top and frames the waistcoat perfectly.

Although this piece was more of an investment I'm more than happy I plumped for it and I can't wait to discover new ways to style it.

How would you prefer to style it?
